You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility of NAVY EXCH SERVICE COMMAND.
Duties
You will operate standard and developmental test equipment and instrumentation to obtain data in support of developmental projects/programs and facility efforts.
You will recommend initiation of areas for studies, tasks, and research.
You will prepare written documents, fact sheets, briefings, and presentations to document and communicate as a representative of the department.
You will analyze, assess, organize, and manage data to identify existing and/or potential issues and recommend corrective action or preventative measures.
You will develop proposals and assist leadership in seeking additional test and evaluation opportunities.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying the concepts of textile technology (i.e. textile science, biomedical, mechanical, and fire science engineering) or related fields in studies aimed at the development of new, improved, or specialized protective textiles, protective ensembles, life support equipment, micro-climate conditioning systems, or test and evaluation methods. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Serving as a project lead in the formulation, planning, and organization of high visibility projects while working collaboratively with both internal and external partners; 2) Analyzing information and data and assessing testing status as it relates to programs, projects, and tasks; 3) Managing functions performed by the various Navy testing and evaluation laboratories (Biophysical, Flame/Thermal, and Textile Performance); 4) Operating standard and developmental test equipment and instruments to obtain data in support of developmental projects and programs; 5) Recommends initiation of studies, tasks, and research opportunities; 6) Develops proposals and other programmatic documentation and assists leadership with seeking additional testing and evaluation opportunities both within and outside of the Navy.

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
