You will serve as a PHYSCIAL SCIENTIST in the Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility of NAVAL EXCH SERVICE COMMAND.

Duties

You will determine needed studies, methods, documentation requirements and funding requirements. You will make recommendations as to when project development, design, and construction should be initiated allowing for the resolution of known or potential environmental conflicts. You will attend professional and government meetings and conferences to exchange and discuss technical information, methods, and results. You will provide expert advice to outside sources in specialized areas.

Requirements

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of spcialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. 1.) Reviewing and analyzing the wide variety of projects falling within their assigned programs, to determine their relative importance and the extent of effort and emphasis to be applied to each. 2.) Formulating broad program objectives, recommending the establishment of necessary studies and special investigations, changes in direction of established programs, and assisting in their management; 3.) Conducting or directing broad research and development studies which are complex in nature; 4.) Conducting testing/research independently which involve approaches, methods, techniques and concepts of physical science; 5.) Preparing periodic, interim, and final technical reports with data analysis, findings, conclusions and recommendations.. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

1.) Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education
