This position is located in any of the Power Student Development (PD) organization within Power Services (P), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
The purpose of this position is to serve as a general engineer who has responsibility for the equipment and features of large, complex projects in support of the Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) resources.
Duties
As a Student Trainee (General Engineer), you will:
Research, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and carry out difficult but conventional assignments.
Determine relevancy and use of factual, economic and financial engineering, and scientific information.
Prepare, provide, and evaluate conventional plans, designs, design specifications, and related documentation.
Perform and interpret calculations, analyses, and computations for unknown factors or relationships primarily in matters of a factual nature or involving well-understood mechanisms.
Conduct analytical investigations using the scientific method.
Use performance monitoring and quality assurance principles and methods.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Currently enrolled in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
GS-02: To qualify, you must have completed high school or GED diploma.
GS-03: To qualify, you must have completed 1 academic year of post-high school education.
GS-04: To qualify, you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study OR an associate's degree. (1 full academic year is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.)
GS-05: To qualify, you must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school education leading to a bachelor's degree OR a bachelor's degree.
GS-07: To qualify, you must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.
Note: 1 full academic year is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.
You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Education
Education Requirements: Your educational goals must include obtaining a professional degree in
Engineering, including but not limited to mechanical, civil, environmental, industrial, materials, systems, architectural, structural engineering.
You must submit a copy of your current transcripts with major being pursued for proof of education and enrollment. If you are not currently enrolled but have been accepted for future enrollment, you must submit a copy of your acceptance letter with your application.
