About the Position: This position performs a variety of mail and distribution operations in support of Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC). The incumbent receives, sorts, and routes all official mail for military and civilian personnel assigned to WAMC, and soldiers recently departed.
Duties
Provide mail operation information at service window using customer service procedures.
Knowledge of security regulations and procedures pertaining to handling sensitive materials.
Drive a motor vehicle up to 1 1/2 tons.
Route personal and official mail to various units, box numbers, organization, and places.
Perform related mail handling and clerical duties through the applicable postal regulations, procedures, manuals and directives.
Maintain database by inputting, modifying, and retrieving data on personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- The duties of this position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states to operate motor vehicles.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- The duties of this position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: sorting and/or routing materials or official mail to multiple distribution points; and applying postal service regulations for processing various types of mail; and using automated systems for mail processing procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicant who have held a General Schedule (GS) position with the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more that 2 grades with the preceding 52 weeks.
