This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, (CCSQ).
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-13, you will provide recommendations on key issues affecting the operations and programs of CCSQ, Survey and Operations (SOG); for assisting with overall office management; leading, planning or coordinating projects.
Duties
Perform special administrative, management and program reviews, studies, evaluations, and follow-up projects to ensure goals, objectives, and deadlines are understood and met.
Perform qualitative reviews and assessments of operations, programs, policies and projects determined to be of high priority in CCSQ.
Review and comment on materials submitted to the Director for review.
Act as an advisor to the Director and Deputy on operational, management and administrative policies, procedures, and key issues that may have a major impact on Division management.

In order to qualify for the GS-13 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Assist with comprehensive analyses on critical issues such as short- and long-term strategies for administrative policies and programs; 2) Advise senior leaders on technical policies and procedures, operational and administrative program requirements, and presenting recommendations; AND 3) Writing, researching, and presenting a variety of materials (reports, memorandums, emails, inquiries) to communicate both orally and in writing, with all levels of management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
