This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Office Of Presidential Libraries, George Bush Library. The incumbent will serve in a Presidential Library in which presidential materials have been deeded to NARA and is responsible for planning and carrying out professional archival processes on presidential materials and donated collections, and related management and administrative duties.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVIST, you will:
Oversee the management of the donated Presidential materials and other archives in all media formats, including textual, audiovisual, and electronic.
Define and schedule overall work to be accomplished within assigned program areas to assure achievement of specific policies and objectives.
Plan for and direct the preservation of materials against deterioration.
Supervise a staff of archivists at the full performance level GS 12, archives specialists, and archives technicians.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience leading a team, program, or project.
AND
Analyzing, evaluating, and developing policies and procedures related to records management services.
AND
Interpreting and applying federal laws, regulations, legal decisions, policies, procedures, and directives pertaining to the receipt and processing of requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
Education
Individual Occupational Requirements:Basic requirements for all grades:
- Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.

- Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
