You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter in the Fire Protection branch ofMARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR. Duties

You will supervise the development and writing of lesson plans and the presentation of instructions. You will maintain extensive training records and documents all training accomplished. You will project training needs for the division and evaluate the progress of the training programs. You will prepare contingency plans to effectively handle responses to hazardous materials incidents/emergencies. You will coordinate response plans with the installation, Federal, state and local agencies. You will manage, direct, and supervise the installation's fire prevention/fire safety programs. You will develop and implement an effective fire prevention education training program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You must participate in mandatory physical fitness training and required to use all safety equipment and apparel.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires occasional travel away from the normal duty station. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions. The employee must have the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth.
  • This position requires the employee to possess applicable license(s) or authorizations to operate assigned equipment.
  • This position requires that the employee be certified in the use of a respirator.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Directing the activities of personnel and operations of departmental training; preparing contingency plans to effectively handle responses to emergencies; AND managing and directing fire prevention and fire safety programs.
