This position assists the Senior Counsel, Strategic Planning and Operations Group (SPOG), in developing and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing the Legal Division's communications program and completing work related to improving operation efficiency and effectiveness, strategic planning, and knowledge management.

Duties
Develops effective communication strategies, with the goal of improving transparency and collaboration throughout the Legal Division.
Evaluates and strategizes how available information can best be used to meet Legal Division objectives, identifies opportunities for developing new information, and recommends approaches for presenting information.
Creates project deliverables and business objectives and strategies and connects them together while defining and clarifying the measurement objectives.
Engages with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsels to create regular Legal Division communications to keep staff informed regarding FDIC or Legal Division initiatives and work-related matters.
Conducts research into a variety of matters in order to formulate reports and provide advice/recommendations to the Senior Counsel.
Oversees the publication of the Legal Division newsletter, in coordination with Legal Division staff and subject matter experts, by writing and editing articles and other materials for the newsletter.
Assists Legal Division staff with editing publications and training materials to ensure compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Develops effective methods for communicating information related to training, intern programs, or other strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience (1) planning and executing strategic communications initiatives to support an organization’s mission and goals; and (2) developing newsletters or other communications for a general audience.
