The Administrative Support Assistant provides program and administrative support and assistance to the Assistant Education Officer. He/She is responsible for the overall administrative functioning of the Education Division.
Duties
Specific duties include:
Provides telephone and receptionist services on a daily basis in a professional and friendly manner.
Assists in special projects that impact various administrative and program issues that affect the Education Division.
Reviews and edits written and electronic material received within in the division, determines routing of assignments, and distributes correspondence and publications to the appropriate parties.
Assists management officials on administrative aspects of current policies in regard to memorandums, travel, timekeeping, or other matters of issue, upon request.
Serves in a liaison capacity between division management and other VA offices and outside groups.
Serves as a timekeeper for the division and as a resource for information for reports in the current time and attendance system. Ensures that time and attendance records for the staff are maintained accurately and submitted timely. Completes overtime requests and usage reports.
Ensures that adequate supplies are available for employees in the division.
Prepares all division access requests to add/modify/delete accounts. Maintains position descriptions.
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement:11/06/2024.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements (unless if in the commuting area and eligible for a non-competitive hiring authority such as Schedule A, VRA, or 30% or more disabled Veterans).
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level.
If you are a current VBA employee outside of the commuting area seeking reassignment or change to lower grade via this vacancy announcement, you must currently hold the GS-07 (or higher) and the promotion potential of your current position must be at least None.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. These requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement and those applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-07 Grade Level:
Specialized Experience: Applicant must have one year of specialize experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: routing correspondence to appropriate personnel, utilizing automated data processing programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports and correspondence and administering supplies for an office.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week.
Physical Requirements: There are occasions when the work requires long periods of sitting in one position, intense concentration, and working under deadlines and pressure.
