You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist (Explosive) in the Marine Forces Reserve Safety Office of MARFORRES NOLA.
Duties
You will keep the Ground Safety Manager informed of major issues and obstacles in achieving compliance with objectives of the Explosive Safety Program.
You will prepare survey inspection reports identifying unsafe operations and conditions, specifying corrective actions and provides recommendations for program improvements.
You will develop and recommend corrections and controls to prevent recurrence to the Commanders, managers and supervisors.
You will review and evaluate a wide variety of explosive storage, shipment and use practices and procedures, requiring an analysis of complex hazards involving combined mechanical and equipment operations.
You will represent the Commander and Safety Manager at various safety related meetings, conferences, and workshops.
You will conduct ground safety and occupational health surveys.
You will provide guidance, recommendations and helps assistance to military and civilian personnel concerning established safety mishaps and person injuries in the workplace.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: 1.) Providing interpretation and guidance concerning the application of safety regulations, policies, procedures and standards; 2.) Assessing safety hazards involved in all aspects of range and explosive safety; 3.) Developing and recommending accident/injury avoidance procedures to safeguard personnel. 4.) Developing action plans for safety support; AND 5.) Preparing and distributing safety alerts and messages to inform units of unsafe equipment or conditions.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
- Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology OR
- Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology OR

- Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
