Duties

Develop clear descriptions of historical materials for ease of retrieval. Apply archival procedures when working with historical collections. Utilize automated equipment for performing archival functions. Organize contents of archival collections.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • This position may require you to do business travel up to 5% of the time.
  • This position may require you to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Arranging historical materials in accordance with established policies and/or procedures; AND 2) Performing tasks related to the description and/or presentation of historical materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Archival studies, Library or History. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Arranging historical materials in accordance with established policies and/or procedures; 2) Performing tasks related to the description and/or presentation of historical materials; AND 3) Completing actions to support preservation and/or conservation of historical materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Archival studies, Library or History. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
