Duties
If selected for this position, the incumbent will perform the below duties:
The incumbent serves as a Litigation Support Specialist and is responsible for providing on-going technical advice and consultation. Incumbent serves as an expert on non-legal management of investigations and litigation. The position serves as a staff analyst, evaluator, and advisor to management and is responsible for planning, analyzing, evaluating, and/or improving the effectiveness of administrative and technical operations pertaining to litigation. The incumbent provides guidance and support on all solutions available for the management of all investigational documents and records, including all active and archived legal documents relating to cases, settlements, and proposals.
Provides extensive advice and oversight to attorneys and other support staff of internal and external projects including; monitoring various court orders, discovery schedules, and multi-party agreements to ensure compliance; preparing briefs and overseeing the filing of briefs, notices of appeals, and appendices; providing direct support for trial proceedings; preparing, locating, organizing, and maintaining discovery letters, pleadings, trial subpoenas, trial exhibits, and case files.
Develops policies, procedures and best practices related to supporting litigations teams preparing for trial in Federal Courts or Administrative proceedings.
Provides specialized training to attorneys and legal support staff within the Bureau on the large variety of litigation specific administrative techniques.
Serves as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) in the administration of many of the Bureau's contracts by checking to see that products/services are acceptable, are on time and within original cost. Discusses the evaluation of the vendors' work both with the individual vendors and FTC's contracting office to ensure delivery of timely, high quality products to meet the bureau's needs in the areas of investigations and litigation. Maintains procurement logs and monitors applicable budget object classes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Litigation Support Specialist at the GS-13 level, you must meet the following requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: processing and production of electronically stored information in order to assist in the development of new approaches to the management of electronically stored information to address changes in technology and changes in the size and types of data formats obtained in litigation: knowledge of trial proceedings in order to determine presentation of case materials: knowledge and understanding of records retention requirements of the National Archives and Records Service including those pertaining to electronic documents used for investigations and litigation: plan, organize, and manage complex projects, within specific time limits; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
