Duties
You will install telecommunications lines/cables in accordance with specifications.
You will splice aerial, underground, and direct buried cables from written or oral work orders.
You were perform installations of terminals, load coils, and all associated hardware and equipment.
You will utilize test equipment to locate troubles and faults by testing for opens, shorts, crosses, grounds, and similar troubles.
You will climb telephone poles, ladders and work from aerial platforms or bucket trucks to maintain and splice aerial cable.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You are required to work from un-stepped poles, cable cars, and ladders and have the stamina to endure several hours of work using climbers and safety belts.
- You must be capable of working in the kneeling, crouching or stooping position, and capable of climbing poles and digging holes.
- You must have good eyesight and not be color blind, and must be mentally alert at all times to effectively perform work and avoid accidents.
- You must possess a valid state vehicle operator's license and qualify for a government vehicle operator's license for vehicles up to 3 tons.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class B drivers license.
- This is a Bargaining Unit position
Qualifications

Sampled duties of this position include: installing overhead and underground telecommunication wires, copper cables, single/multi mode fiber optic cables and associated hardware and equipment.
