The primary purpose of this position, Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic Leader, WL-2602-12, is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis.
Duty Title: Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Work Leader
Duties
1. Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers.
2. Performs work.
3. Provides advice and technical assistance to mechanics and supported organizations.
4. Ensure safety practices and procedures are in accordance with established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
5. Ensure proper tool control procedures are followed.

- This work may require some exposure to work under adverse environmental conditions.
- Incumbent may be required to take part in mobility exercises and contingency operations.
- May be assigned other additional duties as required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires working in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee typically works in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. May be required to work at remote user locations under variable conditions or within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises.
