You will serve as a Rigger Leader in the Production Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will adhere to rigger trade safety practices and guidelines in completing assignments You will wear personal protective equipment (PPE), protective safety devices, safety shoes, or special protective clothing as required. You will interpret and explain work instructions and blueprints for employees when necessary for the completion of rigging assignments You will determine sequence of operations and work steps necessary to lay out, assemble, and install weight handling gear.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This may be deemed a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Commercial Driver's license (CDL).
  • You must qualify as ammunition and Hazardous Material Handler (AMHAZ).
  • You will be required to participate in the Explosive Ordnance Safety Program and the Radiological Monitoring Program.
  • You will be required to participate in the Nuclear Weapon Personnel Reliability Program.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Interpreting instructions received from the Crane/Rigging Supervisor, planning and supervising work based on employee skills, training, and availability; 2) Demonstrating proper work methods, explaining unusual steps or processes, setting the pace of the work and answering employee's questions related to procedures, policies, and instructions; 3) Applying sufficient journeyman level trade knowledge and experience to effectively direct the rigging operations.
