Duties

You will select and rig gear for hanging scaffolds and staging for various trades. You will estimate size and weights, equipment capacities, and plans for clearance and safety factors. You will maneuver, tilt, and control loads a necessary by means of attached lines and riggings.

Requirements

  • Incumbent may be required to obtain a CAT II Crane License.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: WG: 10: Ability to do the work of a Rigger without more than normal supervision performing the following:1) Demonstrating skill and knowledge to perform planning, lay out, assembly and installation for rigging work; 2) Selecting and attaching various types and sizes of slings, wire rope, manila rope, chain, or shackles to safely make lifts; 3) Ensuring rigging work is performed in accordance with established standards and safety regulations; and 4) Selecting the proper tools and equipment to compete rigging work assignments WG 08:1) Demonstrating skill and knowledge to assist with planning, lay out, assembly and installation for rigging work; 2) Following instructions to select and attach various types and sizes of slings, wire rope, manila rope, chain, or shackles to safely make lifts; and 3) Ensuring work assignments are performed in accordance with established standards and safety regulations. This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is a valid Commercial Driver's License issued by the Motor Vehicle Department for equipment in excess of 26,001 pounds capacity .Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C).
