This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (SysAdmin) position in the Client Services Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist (SysAdmin), 2210-13, FPL GS-13 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Assessing and evaluating the latest enterprise desktop/laptop management systems to manage, troubleshoot, secure and update desktop/laptop devices.
Using knowledge that has been acquired through training and/or extensive on the-job experience to evaluate technical information related to the job.
Using principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing system testing environments, evaluating processes and technical characteristics of IT systems.
Identifying critical operational issues to improve a secure testing environment.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing, system problems and determining the source and cause of the problem.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Evaluating, developing, and supporting IT solutions to assure IT provided desktops and laptops are adequately supporting employees efficiently; Using technical knowledge to assist staff in managing IT systems/applications; Monitoring management systems to proactively determine system(s) health in reducing system failures; and Managing and monitoring device upgrades within determined schedule in addition to effectively performing remote customer support.
In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service, private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
