This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (DATAMGT) position in the Decennial Information Technology Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. Duties

Develops, implements, and maintains a Decennial IT Roadmap for Data Architecture. Develops and deploys comprehensive data management framework, ensuring robust data accessibility, security, and usability for business insights and operational purposes. Defines the data strategy and architecture, creating data governance policies and procedures to uphold data quality, privacy, and security. Oversees the design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, available, and secure databases and structures to ensure the reliability and performance of the Decennial system of systems.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Designing and implementing scalable data architectures for enterprise-level data sets, particularly large volumes generated from surveys and research initiatives; establishing comprehensive data governance frameworks, including data quality standards, metadata management, and compliance protocols; serving as a subject matter expert on complex data projects, ensuring the effective delivery of data solutions such as data lakes, warehouses, and analytics platforms; conducting detailed data assessments and architectural reviews to make informed decisions on data integration and system interoperability; implementing advanced data integration techniques, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, near real-time data processing solutions and Application Programming Interface (API) based solutions, to optimize data flows; and leading efforts in migrating large-scale data sets to cloud environments, ensuring adherence to security standards and regulatory requirements throughout the migration process.
