This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Intelligence Analysis, Office of Counterintelligence. As an Intelligence Research Specialist (Intelligence Analyst), you will apply expert knowledge and advanced research, analytical, and methodological techniques to examine and assess all-source intelligence, with emphasis on evaluating transactional and other financial data, and/or cyber threats.
Duties
Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Serve as a technical expert on writing, editing, and applying best practices in analytic standards, methodologies, and tradecraft to produce in-depth, all-source intelligence reports, papers, and assessments.
Conceive and craft sophisticated, insightful analysis that identifies subtle or hidden patterns or trends across multiple issues or disciplines and their relevance to national security policy.
Convey information to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, observes nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Mentor and coach junior analysts and oversee and guides participation in research projects.
Act as a project leader or developmental team leader on complex projects involving personnel and subject matter experts from other parts of the organization and/or other governmental agencies.
Initiate and advocate intelligence collection priorities across multiple collection disciplines and mentors junior and mid-level analysts on effectively driving the requirements process.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-14: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
-Creating written analysis and verbal presentations of all-source intelligence or other analytical assessments on national security threats; AND
-Working with agencies within the Intelligence Community such as participating with cross agency training, co-authoring intelligence reports, and coordinating to produce a finished intelligence products; AND
-Providing quality control on intelligence products such as internal or peer reviews, editing reports, and providing internal training.
Specialized experience for the GS-13: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
-Creating finished intelligence or other intelligence-based analytical assessments and delivering briefings on national security threats; AND
-Working with agencies within the intelligence Community such as participating with cross agency training, co-authoring intelligence reports and coordinating to produce a finished intelligence product.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
