About the Position: This Engineering Technician, GS-0802-8/9 is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Fort Worth Operations Division, is located in Clifton, Texas.

Duties

Perform maintenance and construction work of a technical nature required at an operational Corps of Engineer Lake including plan, coordinate, inspect, and supervise work of contractors. Responsible for engineer phase of detailed plan of maintenance performed by construction contract, service contract, hired labor or combination of these methods. Performs routine inspection on structure to ensure maintenance integrity and readiness for operation. Utilize computer software to develop and administer critical path management of maintenance and construction program for project office and maintain detailed equipment maintenance and utilization records. Perform all contract quality assurance activity related to maintenance and construction activities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel is required up to 25% of the time.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid current driver's license.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) - This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include 1) Develop documents for construction and/or service contracts; AND 2) Performing preventative maintenance for equipment or facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirements Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
