You will serve as a ELECTOPLATER LEADER in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will accomplish routine inspection of work in progress and audit completed work for compliance with appropriate procedures.
You will instruct co-workers in proper troubleshooting and electroplating methods.
You will ensure that technological changes in the trade or nuclear area are incorporated in the classroom and on-the-job.
You will test, counsel and evaluate trainees work and training progress.
You will use electroplating testing and measuring instruments, e.g. dial bore gages, micrometers, calipers, pH meters, hydrometers, rheostats, voltmeters, and ammeters.
You will interpret and use blueprints, trade technical manuals, and work instructions correctly.
You will operate portable and stationary rectifiers.
You will use a variety of electrolytic and chemical processes to accomplish precision, protective, and decorative metallic or nonmetallic finishes on metal and metal alloy objects.
You will ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- Work performed requires visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
- Work may be performed onboard ships.
- You may be required to be nuclear qualified.
- You may be required to perform work off-station for limited time.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
