About the Position: The purpose of this position is the operation of the MEDCEN and tenant organizations (DENTAC, VETCOM, Soldier Recovery Unit) mailroom. Incumbent processes and distributes U.S. Mail, United Parcel Service (UPS) materials, other third party mail and package delivery services, and handlesdistribution/reproduction material.
Duties
Train all new personnel on postal procedures, policies, and regulated guidelines.
Places exceptional emphasis on implementing and administering regulations governing the safeguarding of classified information.
Keeps employees informed of administrative policies, procedures and employee activities.
Performs duties, including audits and inspections, as the Official Mail Manager IAW DoD 4525.6-Mand AR 600–8–3.
Operates sedan and/or light truck, picks up and/or delivers classified or unclassified mail or material from the III Corps Main Distribution Center and Unites States Postal Service, as required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Clearance.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a mail handler certification.
- Incumbent must meet and maintain all eligibility requirements listed in AR 600-8-3, AR 25-51, DODI4525.09 (MILITARY POSTAL SERVICE), AND DODI 4525.08.
- Incumbent will be required to work on rotating weekends.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) resolving informal complaints; 2) routing incoming official mail, of all classifications and special categories; AND 3) receiving, sorting, collecting and deliver incoming and outgoing official mail. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
