THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF), Position Description Number T0029P01 and is part of the KS Joint Forces Headquarters, National Guard.
Duties
As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST, GS-0101-11, you will serve as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Region IPP program. Serves as the Primary Prevention Integrator (PPI) managing all aspects of a complex integrated primary prevention program (P3) for the Region. Serves as the Region point of contact for the suicide prevention program, workplace and domestic violence programs in a non-clinical primary prevention, here after referred to as prevention, role in coordination with applicable offices and community agencies. Delivers initial prevention activities, averting harm or abuse before it occurs. Identifies risk and protective factors that lead to or protect against unhealthy or unsafe behaviors. Promotes actions to mitigate environmental factors. Examines and interprets population data from the Region. Interprets S/T/DC policies and guidance to develop Region specific policy, plans, objectives and guidance for the operation of local P3. Coordinates the implementation and coordination of all such activities at a local level. Provides professional advisory services and training to Region Service Members and community agencies concerning available or ongoing violence-related prevention efforts. Other duties as assigned.
Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
The position under this announcement is being filled using the National Guard Accelerated Hiring Authority (NG AHA). Selection will be made through a process without applying traditional competitive rating and ranking procedures and where interviews are optional. Merit factors shall be the basis for selection. Merit factors are determined by the individuals' ability to perform the duties of the position. Merit is based on such factors as previous work experience, education, abilities, and competencies. In order to be referred, applicant must meet all general, specialized and education requirements of the position.
Veterans Preference: Veterans' preference does not apply when referring and selecting individuals under this NG accelerating hiring authority; however, applicants are encouraged to still claim veterans preference and submit supporting documentation.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in supporting inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the regional leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups and experience in representing their population's integrated prevention efforts as a member of leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups. Must have experience in developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Physical Demands
Regular and recurring work is performed sitting at a desk operating office equipment, except for visits to military and non-military facilities, conferences, meetings, briefings and seminars. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment
Work is performed both in a normal office setting and in unit areas or installations and communities. Work involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as office, training and meeting rooms, etc. Areas used typically have adequate lighting, heated and ventilation.
