About the Position: This position is located in a Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) at the Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington. The incumbent will serve as a Financial Technician within the Uniform Business Office (UBO) which is divided into four (3) areas: Medical Services Accounts (MSA), Third Party Collections (TPC), and Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC). Duties
The incumbent will perform all patient account receivables transaction posting, within Armed Forces Accounting Billing System (ABACUS) and Military Health System (MHS) Genesis Cerner Patient Accounting Billing System.
Maintain ledgers and financial documents.
Verify and validate correct billing and post checks as third-party insurance payments into the current billing system.
Reconcile accounts, prepare, analyze, examine, and maintain reports and account data.
Accomplish work processes by using numerous manual and automation systems and software programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This Position requires the employee to Obtain Financial Management Certification Level 2 within " 2 Years of Employment, Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical or technician work in support of accounting, auditing, budgeting, or financial management functions in reviewing, examining, and processing vouchers for billing; entering information into a computerized system such of Armed Forces Billing and Collection Utilization Solution (ABACUS) as well as MHS Genesis Cerner Patient Accounting; preparing recurring reports associate with billing and collection claims. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration/Accounting or Finance. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
