The Crew and Thermal Systems Division plays a critical role in technology, flight hardware development, and maintenance and operation of human rated spacecraft environmental test facilities that support NASA's mission. This role plays an instrumental role in collaborating with programs and stakeholders to ensure the Crew and Thermal Systems Development continues in its outstanding technical leadership across the Johnson Space Center and the Agency.
Duties
The Chief Crew and Thermal Systems Division:
Leads the organization in the design, development, and testing for Environmental Control and Life Support Systems, active thermal control systems, Extravehicular Activity (EVA) systems, crew equipment, space suits, and other tools and equipment.
Collaborates with programs and stakeholders to ensure the division continues in its outstanding technical leadership across the Center and Agency.
Formulates program goals and objectives (near-term and long-term) and develops plans for new projects.
Reviews and directs the technical approach and progress toward the execution of hardware, facility development, and operational functions.
Provides critical support for sustaining, Government-furnished equipment and technology for the International Space Station Program (ISSP), Commercial Crew Program (CCP), Orion Program, and Gateway Program.
Leads the division which provides test capability in large scale vacuum and thermal/vacuum environments including specialized human test facilities, and manufacturing, assembly, and testing facilities.
Integrates Division activities for ISSP, CCP, Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development Program, Orion, Gateway, EVA and Human Surface Mobility Program, Human Landing System programs and technology development; and manages cost, schedule, planning, reporting, etc. for these programs.

Requirements
- The individual selected will be required to file an 'Executive Branch Personnel Financial Disclosure Report' (OGE-278) in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
- Initial Senior Executive Service (SES) Career appointee is subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Successful completion of a background investigation commensurate with the risk and sensitivity level of the position.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug testing may be required.
- Must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
You must have the skill and ability to perform the duties described above as demonstrated by progressively responsible supervisory/leadership experience, normally obtained over several years by serving in positions at the GS-15 level or equivalent.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
MTQ 1- Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in managing, supervising and directing innovative scientific and technical programs in a large engineering organization with a matrixed environment.
MTQ 2- Demonstrated experience in multiple areas of the following disciplines: spacecraft active thermal control systems, life support systems, space suits, EVA tools, crew habitability systems, hardware development and certification, and management and/or operations of associated ground testing facilities.
Education
