Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a/an Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Develop and execute a public health communications and marketing strategy for the OLHCHH including national campaigns, newsletters, social marketing, videos, print materials, website, conference, and exhibit booth.
Advise the Director, Deputy Director, senior program staff and others on the public affairs impact of various policies and programmatic decisions made by those officials.
Direct special events, ceremonies, tours, and other activities intended to develop interest in agency programs.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Participating in public heath education campaigns; AND
- Leading initiatives to achieve a culture of service excellence and employee engagement; AND
- Communicating with high-level officials.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Supporting initiatives to achieve a culture of service excellence and employee engagement; AND
- Reviewing and finalizing written products for clarity, accuracy, appropriateness for audience, grammar, and consistency.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
