This position is located in the United States Agency for Global Media, Voice of America, Programming Directorate, Broadcast Operations, within the Technical Support Division. The incumbent will serve as the Broadcast Maintenance Technician (Multimedia) and will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the technical infrastructure and all radio, TV, and digital broadcast equipment.
Duties
As a Broadcast Maintenance Technician (Multimedia), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
Manages equipment installation and integration tasks in a technically complex and innovative multimedia broadcast environment.
Tests, repairs, and calibrates sophisticated cross-platform broadcast equipment to meet exacting U.S. and international broadcast.
Works with technical modifications in accordance with equipment manufacturer's bulletins to assure equipment performance and functional specifications. Modifications include firmware and software upgrades and electronic or mechanical modifications as required.
As a member of a multimedia broadcast technical team, he/she is responsible for applying skills and technical assistance in a disciplined and highly coordinated production and may be required to perform operational or other functions as needed.
Performs preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on all broadcast equipment and systems used to produce and broadcast VOA multimedia programming.

- This is a national security position. If selected, this position requires the completion of the SF-86.

- The full performance grade level for this position is GS-13.

Qualifications
For the GS-12 level: Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-11 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Reads and interprets schematics or detailed design drawings for equipment and systems installed across all broadcast platforms and facilities, at times with supervision;
Assists with or managing tasks of installation and repairs of digital and analog broadcast equipment and systems used to produce broadcast multimedia (radio, TV, digital) programming; tests, repairs, and calibrates cross-platform broadcast equipment to meet U.S. and international broadcast standards;
Assists with the performance of preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on all broadcast equipment and systems used to produce multimedia programming;
Prepares accurate and complete records of work performed and are able to communicate clearly, both orally and with supervisors and peers.
For the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience for this position requires:

At this level you are an expert and can train others in the performance of duties.
Education
Education is not required for this grade level. It cannot be used for qualification purposes.
