The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS), Central Office, located on the Jefferson Barracks VAMC campus in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Training Specialist in our Human Resources Division to lead the development and implementation of our organization's Awards and Recognition Program. This position will report to the Employee Development Manager.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Design and implement training programs related to employee recognition and rewards to effectively recognize and celebrate achievements.
Lead training sessions, workshops, and presentations for employees and leadership teams in the field and Central Office, promoting a culture of appreciation and engagement.
Develop comprehensive training materials and resources, including manuals, e-learning modules, and guides that support VCS' awards and recognition initiatives.
Partner with leadership to ensure that the awards and recognition program aligns with company objectives and fosters a positive work environment.
Measure the effectiveness of recognition programs through feedback, employee surveys, and performance metrics, and make recommendations for improvement.
Responsible for managing departmental budgets to include forecasting and cost control.
Ensure that all recognition programs adhere to organizational policies and any legal requirements related to employee rewards and compensation.
Stay updated on industry trends and innovative approaches to employee recognition and incorporate these into the organization's practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- You will be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Must be vaccinated against Covid-19 for this agency.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 full year teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation or equivalent experience in training, employee engagement, or organizational development roles.
Thorough understanding of employee engagement strategies, organizational behavior, and adult learning principles.
Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire employees at all levels.
Expertise in instructional design, e-learning development tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to utilize Excel for forecasting and budgeting of awards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively prepare and deliver awards, recognition, and official documents to supervisors and staff.
Impeccable organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
