This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Information and Security Services (ISS). As a Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Manager) you will be responsible for managing the programs for Administrative Investigations, Information Security, Communication Security, and classified information within the Security Programs Branch.
Duties
As a Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Manager), you will:
Manage a branch staffed with Security Specialists providing program leadership and expertise to the administrative investigation process and the development of the COMSEC / INFOSEC security policies, standards, and procedures.
Provide security support and oversight directly to geographically disbursed Physical Security Officers (PSO) in the Washington Metro area and five regional offices located in the continental United States.
Provide information, advice, and guidance to the Division Director on plans, programs, and pending security and investigation developments
Manage the priority and workload of the staff of security specialists. Managerial responsibilities include formulation and execution of the budget for all security program operations, planning and assigning work directly, developing performance plans and doing performance evaluations, advising and coaching employees, interviewing job candidates, recommending personnel actions, hearing and resolving employee complaints, initiating adverse action when necessary, identifying training needs, and approving leave requests and work schedules
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in the following:
- Evaluating effectiveness of security program operations that covers business operations handling both Top Secret (TS) classified information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) unclassified information; and SCIF security program operations; AND
- Collection, research, analysis, and dissemination of insider threat risk information; AND
- Writing formal Reports of Investigation (ROIs) for administrative investigations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
