THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD0262000 and is part of the TN ARMY, National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 103 (Volunteer Chapter). THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR RECRUITMENT OR RELOCATION INCENTIVE UNDER QUALIFYING FACTORS.

Duties

As an IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (TITLE 32) GS-2210-11, you will perform a variety of network device configuration and connectivity tasks. Execute procedures and coordinates corrective action to optimize network performance. Install, configure and monitor tested and evaluated software packages that provide performance measurements of the WAN/LAN. Implement the standard configuration software loads for all network devices. Utilize benchmarks and performance measurement and evaluation data to manage network servers and data communication devices to support normal and surge workload. Work with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems. Use remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and user/system files. Document and track change to configuration, protocol and user/system files. Execute appropriate action to ensure backup processes are completed. Evaluate the performance of network devices such as servers, workstations, and peripheral devices, and remote access systems. Coordinate the development and implementation of configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs with supported elements to include headquarters staff elements, tenant activities, state government, regional operating activities and national agencies. Implement the standard operating procedures for all devices on the network. Perform other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
• Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
• THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-9 / WO1 through CW4 or 0-1 through 0-4 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training that provides a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enable the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that require the use of adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience equivalent to at least next lower grade or 36 months of specialized experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.
