The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR) provides the Smithsonian Institution with a full range of building services through maintenance and operational zones.
Duties
The General Maintenance & Operations Supervisor performs a dual role involving both managerial and supervisory responsibilities. Managerial responsibilities cover activities both within the Shop and as a participant in and contributor to the overall management. The supervisory responsibilities involve the technical leadership and direction of a staff of various trades and skills, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, welding, pipefitting, carpentry, framing, wood crafting, painting, and masonry.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
