About the Position: This position is located at the Tooele Army Depot, Directorate of Ammunition Operations, Operations Division, serving as a working leader of a work crew that consists of Blocker and Bracers (Motor Vehicle Operator), WG-4602-08.
Duties
Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and start work (by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed to individual members of the group led).
Insure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and that needed stocks are obtained from supply locations.
Check work in progress and, when finished, check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Demonstrate proper work methods.
Answer worker's questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (technical orders); obtain needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work.
Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (assure that equipment capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used)
Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
Ensure explosives/ammunition are handled/stored safely IAW regulations governing compatibility groups and net explosive limits.
Ensure proper operation of the container handlers and truck-tractors with semi-trailers is performed; and the safest route to travel is selected.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be cleared In Accordance With (IAW) requirements of AR 190-11, Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AAE).
- Must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 6 months of appointment and maintained thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
- Required to successfully complete the General Transportation of Hazardous Materials Course, MTMC II, and keep certification current IAW DOT Regulations, Title 49 and BOE-6000.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This is a drug testing designated position; individual is subject to random drug testing IAW AR 600-85.
- Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six months of appointment.
- Driver's license required at time of appointment.
- Forklift certification must be obtained within six months of appointment.

This includes experience blocking and bracing equipment on truck trailers using blocks, braces, or other staying devices; operating truck-tractors with semi-trailers and/or Strad-O-Lift trailers to haul explosives, munitions, and components. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Worker is subject to continuous physical strain from simultaneously manipulating many levers and controls; from lifting and handling heavy containers, from vibrations caused by the container handler; and from jerking and jolting motions while lifting and moving loads.-Work involves continuous climbing, reaching, bending, and twisting of body. Requires lifting, positioning, and carrying items up to 45 pounds while loading and unloading cargo. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Moderate physical effort is required to make truck-tractor and semi-trailer connections. There is continuous physical activity in reaching, bending, turning, or moving feet and legs to manipulate controls. Subject to cuts, scratches, and bruises from loading or unloading vehicles. Subject to possible serious injury resulting from traffic accidents. Is required to work on concrete floors. Work is performed where there is unpleasant dust, dirt, fumes, and noise from truck operations. May wear masks, gloves, goggles, and rubber boots, as appropriate.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Equipment is operated outside during periods of extreme heat and cold from a cab that is enclosed. Operator is subject to noise, dirt, dust, and fumes and is exposed to danger from moving machinery. Accomplishment of duties requires the wearing of protective clothing such as safety shoes, glasses, coveralls, etc. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life to burns, cuts, bruises, strains, and nausea.
