This vacancy is for a Telecommunications Specialist in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration within the Department of Commerce.

Duties

As a Telecommunications Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Analyze issues related to spectrum management, and develop and formulate policy recommendations, technical proposals, planning documents, and position papers. Research, manipulate, and analyze a variety of spectrum related files through both automated and manual methods. Maintain technical criteria for automated programs and data files used by the Inter-department Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC) and its subgroups. Draft, review, and editing of correspondence, regulations, and policy documents. Review internal and agency input documents for compliance with applicable policy, regulations, and procedures, and when required, recommend corrective actions. Develop, write, communicate, and present a position to reach a consensus, participate in a variety of fora, committees, or working groups. To qualify at the GS-12 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal government. Specialized Experience includes: Interpreting and researching telecommunications policy and rules; and Applying national and international spectrum and/or telecommunication rules and regulations; and Providing technical expertise on electromagnetic communications, including radio systems, radio communication formulas, and concepts.
