This position is located in the Defense Post Office which is responsible for the Mail Management Program for Joint DOD activities and administratively supported by Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), as well as JCS, Navy, Airforce and Marines. Service approximately 150 organizations.

Duties

This is a Direct Hire Public Notice, under this recruitment, applications will be accepted for each location and/or installation identified in this Public Notice and selections are made for vacancies as they occur. This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Serve as a mail technician at a Defense Post Office. Process an extensive variety of types of materials for outgoing mail or further routing. Assist the supervisor of the swing space postal center Serve as alternate liaison with the United States Postal Service Develop or revises procedures to improve the efficiecy of mail operations.

Requirements

  • Total salary varies depending on location of position
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
