THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INSPECTIONS SPECIALIST (COORDINATOR) (T5), Position Description Number T5865000 and is part of the RI 143d Airlift Wing. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as The Inspection System of the Air Force analyst for the IG, managing the Self-Assessment program, providing feedback to FAMs on checklist quality, and compiling information from Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT), etc.

Duties

As part of the Wing IG team, plans, organizes, and executes a wide range of complex activities for the wing CCIP, which includes planning and conducting inspections, installation mission assurance exercises, and comprehensive readiness exercises that involve coordination with a wide variety of programs and departments. Works with commanders at all levels to analyze trends to facilitate and advise the management of deficiency resolution. Handles sensitive information in accordance with security policies and procedures. Manages the Wing Self-Assessment Program; serves as the Wing Self-Assessment Program Manager (SAPM) serving as the MICT, IGEMS, and IGEMS-C system subject matter expert (SME) and system administrator for MICT, IGEMS, and IGEMS-C for the wing level program. Independently plans, implements and manages the centralized control of the wing Self-Assessment Program. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • To be considered for this Title 5 position in the Excepted Service, you must meet one of the Areas of Consideration (Tiers) in the section below named "How You Will Be Evaluated".
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • This position requires a secret security clearance. Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Work may require access to higher classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • Essential Personnel, may be subject to duties in response to emergency/disaster relief. Designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment.
  • IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment.
  • Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment.
  • If an applicant from the Competitive Service applies and is selected for this position, he or she will have to convert to the Excepted Service.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Demonstrate the ability to: 1. Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2. Plan and organize work; and 3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year equivalent experience to at least the next lower grade in the 1801 occupational field. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
