About the Position: Serves as Operations Project Manager (OPM) for a complex of locks and associated facilities, responsible for management of human resources, technical activities, program schedule, fiscal accounting, and public relations. The Lake Washington Ship Canal is a civil works water resource project with features of flood control, navigation (two locks), varied recreation and visitor centers with over one million visitors annually, covering a 66-acre site in metropolitan Seattle, WA.

Duties

Manages the execution of all relevant missions at the Project, such as flood risk management, navigation, environmental stewardship, recreation, and water supply. Plans, assigns, directs, and reviews work operations of subordinate supervisors, employees, and contractors. Manages the operation of all facilities to include the navigation lock, fish passage facilities, and dispersed recreational infrastructure. Responsible for overall operation of the locks and dam in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for the maintenance of numerous recreation/natural resource areas on project lands and shorelines, and management of associated resources. Plans, coordinates, and directs the execution of the Recreation and Natural Resources Management Program. Through subordinate supervisors, supervises and coordinates the management, operations, and maintenance of all project facilities.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
