About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for conducting scheduled and unscheduled patrols to ascertain compliance with federal and state conservation and hunting laws and initiating response efforts needed to identify and remove intruders from restricted range areas.
Duties
Police Officer (CLE), participates in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations.
Incumbent ensures physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation for the protection of Government property, endangered/threatened species, and cultural/archeological protected/sensitive sites.
Conducts community relations activities, briefings, tours and other functions, which enhance appreciation of the wildlife and promotes a positive attitude and public awareness of fish, game laws and regulations.
Exercises initiative and resourcefulness in developing sufficient evidence in support of legal charges as alleged.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved exemption/waiver or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid NACI-T1 background investigation.
- Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission.
- Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.

Specialized ExperienceGS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in detecting and denying unauthorized access to restricted/closed range areas, natural resources, cultural and/or archeological sites; collecting or preserving evidence in support of legal charges related to protection of endangered or threatened species, hunting, and/or unauthorized access to sensitive sites; and/or conducting short and long-term investigations into felony and misdemeanor violations of Federal wildlife and environmental laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
