You will serve as a General Engineer in the DDG(X) Program Office of Team Ships of PROGRAM EXECUTIVE OFFICE SHIPS.
Duties
You will assist in managing the development of the IPS with all aspects including programmatic, technical, and financial including design, modeling and simulation, and test.
You will support the development/coordination of program documentation to support Milestone review process as needed.
You will provide information to the Business Financial Management (BFM) and/or Acquisition office in alignment with the IPS plans and schedules for systems engineering and acquisition.
You will utilize utilize schedule and evaluate actual/projected progress to direct/redirect resources so that projects proceed in an orderly, cost effective, and
timely manner.
You will represent the PAPM in meetings with contractors and provide direction relative to business decisions required to ensure proper control of each
contract.
You will work with the acquisition team to develop acquisition studies and coordinate the development of cost estimates and analyses during all phases of
ship acquisition.
You will apply innovative approaches to resolve complex engineering problems involving shipbuilding and ship systems design of the IPS.
You will review and provide input into IPS requirements including specifications, statements of work, and other contract and acquisition documentation
for procurements.
You will conduct or coordinate studies, cost estimates, and analysis in response to tasking as directed.
You will provide interface with Business/Financial Management staff to provide input into plans and schedules, define actions, and take actions.
You will direct resources required to ensure that projects proceed in an orderly, cost effective, and timely manner.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (or GS-13 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer managing engineering projects (e.g. research, development, systems integration, design, construction, testing, Fleet Introduction, lifecycle support, disposal) for ship construction or modernization projects.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
