Duties
As a National Space Policy Liaison within the National Civil Applications Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT for Geographer: Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Geographer, all grade levels.
A. Degree in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
*OR
B. A combination of education and experience-- courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semesters hours in geography or related fields, as shown in "A" above, plus appropriate experience and/or additional education. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in "A" above.
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT for Geodesist: Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Geodesist, all grade levels.
A. Degree: geodesy; or 30 semester hours in any combination of geodesy, mathematics, physics, astronomy, engineering science, surveying, geodetic surveying, photogrammetry, or geophysics. The course work must have included differential and integral calculus.

B. A combination of education and experience-- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in "A" above.
GS-13
In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above, applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-13 level:
**One year of appropriate professional experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Examples of such experience may include: minimum guidance from the supervisor and is responsible for duty based expertise in planning and managing tasks and following data and security policies related to the Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) community; problem solve and coordinate work with staff members and/or higher level representatives within the PNT and Intelligence Community; expert concerning PNT missions across the DoD and Intelligence Community; build collaborative initiatives associated with national security initiatives in federal and international arenas. Other examples include experience working with the US Space Force and/or Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)/Global Positioning System operations and its relationship to space policy.
The work involved collaborating with superiors in planning future projects and making recommendations as to the feasibility of proposed projects and the necessity for new phases of existing projects. Apart from program policy, formal guidelines did not exist.
