This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.
Duties
Use practical knowledge of computer systems' hardware and software and general knowledge of Information Technology standards, policies and techniques approved for use within the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS).
Ensures that supporting generators are operational.
Require a working knowledge of various types and sizes of wires, connectors, and plugs.
Replaces batteries, switches, cables, coil boxes, microcircuits and targets.
Assists Range Branch personnel in computer systems, equipment and applications used in range operations.
Inspects and troubleshoots electrical pop-up target mechanisms.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is designated as drug testing required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
- A current state driver's license is required; must be able to operate both a four-wheel drive vehicle with standard transmission and an off-road all-terrain vehicle. Work requires driving on hazardous roads and terrain.
- Incumbent must be in good physical condition. The position requires a pre-employment physical.
- Duties involve working with or in close proximity to explosives or incendiary material in an environment where munitions training is being conducted or in close proximity of unexploded ordnance.
- Rotation between major training areas, shift work, rotating shifts and weekend/holiday work and overtime may be required.
- Position is Mission Essential which may require the Incumbent to perform duties during inclement weather situations.
- Position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries/Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position requires business travel/TDY up to 5% of the time.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 75lbs.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Target Systems Maintenance Worker (MVO)~ without more than normal supervision performing tasks associated with common repair of target systems at range training areas and facilities to include replacing batteries, switches, cables, coil boxes, microcircuits and targets to perform simple maintenance tasks to repair targetry, fabricate targets, repair range and associated support equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires inspection of field sites, necessitating walking, standing and climbing. Incumbent must be able to pick up and carry 45 pound and up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all kinds of weather in an outdoor environment; however, some work is performed in an office environment. Some work is performed at range sites where the exposures to hazardous materials or instruments exist. Work requires frequent exposure to foul weather conditions
