About the Position: Serves as an Operations Research Analyst performing professional and scientific duties in the analysis or study of complex sustainment and force management problems.

Duties

Analyzes data; identifies trends, outliers, and items for further research, extrapolates from experimental, historical, and analytical data. Investigates technical data and recommends solutions involving application of operations research analytical methods. Prepare written material regarding the methodology, source data inputs, formulations/ calculations, validations, and concepts of metrics, models, and requirements. Present complex analyses (to include scope, methods, and results) in understandable form to non technical authorities and to defend or justify proposals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research or successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 hours must be in calculus. NOTE: Transcripts are required at the time of application. In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying analytical techniques and methods to study complex sustainment and force management problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Data AnalysisOral CommunicationTechnical CredibilityWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
