About the Position: The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

Duties

Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at the installation. Responsible for responses to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Exercise search and apprehension authority, detain witnesses, apprehend suspects, interview witnesses and other persons involved, and determine whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive. Conduct and/or participate in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. Serve as a shift supervisor of police officers and security officers in the Law Enforcement Division conducting law enforcement and security/access control operations. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has been grandfathered or has an approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, assessed for emotional stability, judgment, adjusting to changes, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
  • Must complete of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards will result in separation.
  • Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, assessed for emotional stability, judgment, adjusting to changes, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • In accordance the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position; and is subject to removal from the position if found convicted after being employed.
  • Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement.
  • Mission Essential designated position during Inclement Weather Conditions or emergency conditions. In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • You may be expected to travel a 10% of the time for this position.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals
  • This is a Temporary position intended to last 12 months. A temporary position may be extended to a maximum of three years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment, depending upon the needs of management

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
