About the Position: Serves as the Military Police Investigative Branch Chief, responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of a Military Police Investigations Branch.

Duties

As the Supervisory Detective, plans, manages and directs all aspects of Military Police Investigations for the installation. Plan, organize, direct and conduct long term investigations of complex, sensitive, and controversial violations (actual or potential) of criminal law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, involving persons and property. Perform police officer duties to assist in police operations in conducting long- and short-term investigations to detect and apprehend individuals committing acts of violence Plan, schedule, and distribute work to subordinates as necessary to achieve effective and expeditious accomplishment of organizational goals and missions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, assessed for emotional stability, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
  • Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards will result in separation.
  • Must be able to pass training, certification and qualification requirements related la enforcement work . These include: weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System training requirements.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • In accordance the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position; and is subject to removal from the position if found convicted after being employed.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a grandfathered memo; approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Must be able to wear government-furnished police uniform and safety equipment (e.g., chemical protective masks must be snug to the face for personal protection).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. In accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R(Condition of Employment) must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Military Police Academy , Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • Mission Essential designated position during Inclement Weather Conditions or emergency conditions. In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement.
  • Must complete of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
