Duties
As a SUPERVISORY DATA SCIENTIST you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Performs professional work in computer science, that may include data science, intelligence, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), system analysis, risk analysis, predictive analysis and computer simulation.
- Leads, analyzes, interprets and correlates qualitative and quantitative data providing technical, scientific insight and advice in support of efforts of military, civilian and contractor personnel to achieve DCSA objectives on a wide variety of efforts.
- Applies analytic methods such as regression, decision tree and statistical probability to improve data reliability and quality.
- Leads implementation strategies for system development and analysis, operational logistics, project funding/budgeting, project cost, schedule and performance management.
- Directs and coordinates data mining, analysis, modeling, development of mathematical algorithms and computer program design with government agencies and/or coalition partners.

Qualifications
In accordance with DoDD 8140.01/DoDI 8140.02, the position compliance requirement details are outlined in the Defense Cyber Workforce Annex (attached). Any Information Technology/Security certifications / education specified in the DCWF Annex as defined by DoD 8140-M within six months of appointment date. The incumbent must sign a Statement of Understanding regarding the certification requirements and maintaining the appropriate certification is a condition of employment.

The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened from the Office of Personnel Management's (OPMs) basic qualifications requirements. In accordance with the Individual Occupational Requirements for this series, Data Science Series 1560 (opm.gov) to qualify for this position you must possess one of the following basic requirement by 11/04/2024
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Expert knowledge in providing supervision and oversight of Information Technology projects, the development of systems and software as well as facilitating the evolution and operation of DCSA's Enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Architectures.
Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:
1. Analyze data sources to provide actionable recommendations.
2. Knowledge of statistical/machine learning algorithms.
3. Skill in designing the best approach and architecture for automated data labeling and data life-cycle.
4. Skill in Regression Analysis (e.g., Hierarchical Stepwise, Generalized Linear Model, Ordinary Least Squares, Tree-Based Methods, Logistic).
5. Skill in developing or recommending analytic approaches or solutions to problems and situations for which information is incomplete or for which no precedent exists.
