This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorist and Financial Intelligence - Intelligence Analysis. The purpose of this position is to provide staffing for the Treasury Intelligence Operation Centers. As an Intelligence Research Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring incoming intelligence and national security information and notifying or distributing that information to Treasury senior leadership.

Duties

Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive on-the-job training to help you grow in this position. As an Intelligence Research Specialist, you will: Support TFI and OIA senior leadership, as well as Treasury Department principals, with current intelligence information via notification reports, situation reports, and preparation of read books and National Security Council (NSC) read books. Brief TFI senior officials as well as Treasury Department principals on current intelligence issues and late breaking developments. Receive, transmit, control, and distribute critical NSC documents for Treasury Department principals and TFI senior leadership. Operate intelligence and national security information systems; serve as the Department's link with the U.S. Intelligence Community and the NSC time-sensitive activities. Conduct research of complex operational issues and distribute information from intelligence, operations, and open sources. Provide Document Control management by ensuring all documents entering or exiting the IOC are controlled through proper logging, digitizing and storing.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes AT LEAST ONE of the following: Experience preparing intelligence or other analytical assessments in the fields of terrorist financing, money laundering, or Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) proliferation; OR Experience with intelligence collection, processing, production, and dissemination principles and techniques. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.M., if related; OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 2 years may be combined with experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes AT LEAST ONE of the following: Experience assisting with intelligence collection, processing, production and/or dissemination principles and techniques; OR Experience with basic intelligence concepts or practices. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. (*Note: If you are qualifying using education and you are within 9 months of graduating you may tentatively qualify. However, you must graduate and/or meet all qualification requirements prior to being appointed to the position.) The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
