This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Health Technician (Audiology) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as a Health Technician (Audiology) in the Department of Family Medicine, for the Army Hearing Program at Evans Army Community Hospital.
Duties
Use audiometer equipment to perform routine hearing screening evaluations on patients enrolled in the Hearing Conservation Program
Use computer and peripheral equipment to establish baseline and annual hearing thresholds in support of Hearing Program.
Conduct training on hearing programs, problems associated with exposure to hazardous noise, and the use of hearing protection.
Adhere to quality control measures and program policies and guides including recordkeeping requirements to maintain individual hearing data records for the duration of active military or civilian service plus mandatory periods of time.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
- This is a Drug Testing Position.
- This position requires the completion of a Pre-Employment Physical Examination
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the Council of Accreditation for Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification.
- This position requires the incumbent to be screened for applicable immunizations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience operating various types of audiometric testing equipment (i.e.; DOEHRS-HC automated test system and manual test systems, e.g., the GSI-61 or Audiostar audiometer with masking), otoscopy, earplug fittings, patient education, etc.; AND performing the full range of audiometric surveillance requirements with appropriately documented evaluations transferred/saved to correct readiness data repositories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Certification from the Council on Accreditation for Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) is highly desired but not required.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
