This position serves as a Community Engagement Officer (CEO) for the Office of Airports (ARP), in the Regional Airport Divisions (ADO). This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the ARP related activities necessary to deliver an effective community outreach program primarily in support of ARP objectives and the Regional Administrator's Office.

Duties

In addition, the incumbent provides similar noise related support to other ARP regions located within their respective Service Areas.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-J level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience in managing, briefing and coordinating community outreach activities and at least one of the following: (1) Experience in explaining policies pertaining to the environmental evaluation of airport projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). (2) Experience in explaining policies pertaining to noise compatibility (Title 14 CFR Part 150) requirements to the public. (3) Experience in explaining policies pertaining to airport access (Title 14 CFR Part 161) requirements.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.As a part of the Federal-Wide Hiring Reform Initiative (streamlining the hiring process), the FAA is committed to eliminating the use of the Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSA) narratives from the initial application in the hiring process for all announcements. Reports and coordinates related activity on a quarterly basis to ARP Regional Management.Receives training on current FAA noise programs, models and environmental and noise policies to ensure a technical understanding of the principles to convey to the public.Work typically is reviewed only at completion for success in achieving planned results. Has broad discretion to ensure the alignment of organizational goals and policies and the requirements of the projects and/or other work activities.Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, and/or LOB's/SO's and often impact on the objectives of the FAA. In some specialties, the work regularly affects internal and external customers.
