Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching for a Director of Protocol (NH-0301-04) Description: Come be one of the 'faces' of Space Systems Command and represent SSC as our Command Director of Protocol! You will be able to foster and develop a nationwide team across LAAFB, SLD 30 and SLD 45 by providing guidance and sharing expertise at the FLDCOM level, establish new fundamental concepts and criteria and stimulate the development of new policies, methodologies, and techniques. Intended duty location will be LAAFB, but we may consider alternates for strong candidates. If you are a headstrong person with a knack for protocol polish and looking for a challenge, this is the job for you! The Director of Protocol should be able to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms. They also need to be able to listen and interpret information from others. Protocol works with many different types of information, including sensitive information they must be able to read and interpret information accurately and thoroughly. Protocol candidates will be asked to use analytical skills to assess situations and determine the best course of action, evaluating the risks of certain situations and determine how to mitigate those risk. They will also be responsible to ensure that all procedures are followed correctly and that all protocols are in place. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. In-depth knowledge of Space System Command. 2. Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and guide workforce; operate in a dynamic organization structure and skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 3. Thorough knowledge and understanding of SSC missions, its subordinate organizations, and their space and cyberspace capabilities. 4. The employee must exhibit a mastery of problem-solving, the ability to understand complex problems, and the ability to propose and implement solutions. 5. Ability to executive complex projects and/or studies within established time constraints. 6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 7. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives. 8. Ability to advise senior leaders and field-level representatives.

  • This position is eligible for situational telework (80% every 2 weeks).

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.

  • It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and bye 31 October annually thereafter, file and OGE-450, ?Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.? Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
