About the Position: Serves as a Construction Control Inspector, Operations and Maintenance Division, at Directorate of Public Works as USAG Ft. Belvoir.

Duties

Coordinate inspection efforts with Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to ascertain that work is authorized to begin and to determine contract start and completion dates. Receives contract performance schedule and works with engineering personnel to review and approve schedule and progress payment ratios. Work with design engineers to resolve design issues and field conditions and prepares comprehensive written input and independent government estimates to the COR to request modifications to contract. Provide status information to customers and facility occupants affected by contract operations.

Requirements

  • This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust; subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure statement OGE Form 450 and annually thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating inspection efforts with Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to ascertain that work is authorized to begin and to determine contract start and completion dates; analyzing situations, develops cost estimates, and determines the most practicable method of accomplishment and amount of time involved for purpose of comparison of bids received from contractors; preparing detailed written reports on contract progress, daily activity at each job site, discrepancies between contractor performance and contract requirements, and information pertinent to the use of required line items at various locations involved. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Building and ConstructionProblem SolvingReading ComprehensionReading Comprehension Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
