Duties
As a Health Communications Specialist you will:
Serves as media relations coordinator by providing direction and guidance to press officers and Center and Division Health Communication Specialists who provide media relations support to agency programs.
As strategies dictate, this position will plan and oversee the implementation of the full range of potential news and social media tactics, including but not limited to national press conferences, media briefings, targeted pitching, podcasts, social media strategy, and editorial board outreach.
Directs and guides the development, evaluation, and timely dissemination of science and audience-based messages to different audiences through a range of news and social media products and strategies.
Provides feedback to other senior leadership on the effectiveness of specific communication strategies, plus traditional and social media efforts.
Developing and maintaining systems for producing and managing integrated communication and marketing efforts across multiple channels.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience:
Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience planning, implementing, and evaluating health communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies, for motivational/educational public health materials and information.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
